What’s Going On With Osha & Mae? The Acolyte’s Twins & Backstory Explained
The Acolyte episode 3 reveals the key backstory and major history of Mae and her twin sister Osha, including the significance of their conception.
Lauren Brady Plays The Young Osha
Osha’s young actor gets a big spotlight in The Acolyte episode 3
Firstly, Osha is portrayed by Lauren Brady inThe Acolyteepisode 3. For much of the episode, Osha is the vehicle through which the audience experiences the story. Osha’s struggle between what her family wants for her and what she wants is at the center ofThe Acolyteepisode 3’s conflict, meaning her actor had a lot of pressure to perform well. Thankfully,LaurenBrady rises to the challenge with ease and turns in a great performance as Osha.
Given that much of the episode centers on Osha’s struggle, Lauren Brady has to convey a range of complex emotions. At such a young age, she manages to do so, conveying Osha’s awe-filled wonderment of the Jedi, reluctant obedience as a daughter, and tragic heartbreak as a twin who does not want the same as her other half. This is capped off with an excellent showcase of emotions in the final moments ofThe Acolyteepisode 3, showing the moment when Osha becomes Sol’s Padawan.

Besides The Acolyte, Lauren Brady’s only other credits came in a short film titled Wake, and the movie Midnight at Paradise.
Leah Brady Plays The Young Mae
Mae’s younger actor has less to do but is equally brilliant
On the other side ofThe Acolyte’s Force Dyadis Mae. InThe Acolyteepisode 3, Mae is played by Lauren Brady’s real-life sister, Leah Brady. Although Osha gets the bulk ofThe Acolyteepisode 3’s focus, Mae makes an impression thanks to Leah Brady’s performance. Brady captures the subtle yet rising anger of Mae exceptionally well, with Mae being steadfastly committed to her coven of witches where her sister is not. As alluded to, Mae is given less to do inThe Acolyteepisode 3, with much of the focus on Osha.
That said,Leslye Headland has hinted that Mae’s point of view on the events will come in the future, likely giving Leah Brady more time in the spotlight. Even without that,The Acolyteepisode 3 is a good showcase of Brady’s talents, from the anger and rage of Mae to the love for her sister and the subtle nuances that differentiate her from Osha. With other credits inThe Umbrella AcademyandViolent Night, this is no surprise. Hopefully,The Acolyte’s future episodes delve deeper into the flashbacks of Mae and Osha’s childhood, if only to see the Brady twins continue their fine work.
