This Peacemaker Season 2 character could have important connection to DCU Batman

The DCU still hasn’t introduced its Batman, butPeacemaker Season 2may be hiding a clue to what the franchise has planned with one character.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a Gotham City sign in Superman, and a silhouette ofBatmanappeared in Creature Commandos. Beyond that, theDCUniverse has mostly kept schtum on its caped crusader – which is why fans are so curious about what’s coming.

Will Robert Pattinson’s Batman merge with James Gunn’s mainline franchise?Probably not (but it’s not completely off the table). Will 1923 star Brandon Sklenar be cast? Social media would have you believe he’s already been hired, but Gunn said earlier in August that the casting process hasn’t even begun.

In short, we’re no further forward. Everything is open to speculation – and that’s where Peacemaker’s Sasha Bordeaux comes in.

Peacemaker Season 2 introduces Batman ally Sasha Bordeaux

Sasha Bordeaux (played by Sol Rodríguez) is introduced in Peacemaker Season 2 as a high-up agent in A.R.G.U.S., working with Rick Flag Sr to monitor the titular anti-hero (you should probably remind yourself of why Peacemaker killed his son, if you haven’t already).

However, Bordeaux is a fairly pivotal (if still obscure) character in the DC comics, especially because of her connection to Batman.

Sasha Bordeaux and Batman in the comics

Lucius Fox hires her to work as Bruce Wayne’s bodyguard, and soon after, she discovers he’s Batman. This puts him in a tough spot: he didn’t want her around in the first place, but now that she knows what she knows, he trains her to join him on his nights patrolling Gotham.

Here’s where things get interesting: later in the comics, Sasha is technologically enhanced after joining Checkmate, a covert agency set up by Amanda Waller, and she works with Maxwell Lord.

Speaking to James Gunn,Screen Rantraised Sasha’s connection to Batman in the comics and if (and how) that could speak to what’s going to happen in the DCU – or what may have already gone down.

“We’ll have to see what we’re doing with Batman, and figuring that out,” he said.

“So obviously we know some basics about where it’s going with Batman, but we’re also figuring some things out, so everything’s fluid.”

“They haven’t met, though?” the interviewer asked, and, with a smile, Gunn replied: “I didn’t say that.”

In another interview,Rodríguez also named her fan cast for the DCU Batman. You can also read the DCEU is part of the DCU multiverse.
