Summary

AFallout 4player has discovered a trick that has the potential to provide unlimited fusion cells.Fusion cells are an extremely beneficial type of ammunition as they power laser-based weaponsthat tend to offer superior damage. This ammo can usually be found in specific locations such as The Institute’s Advanced Systems division, Boston Airport, or The University Credit Union, or on Gunners, Brotherhood of Steel members, Minutemen, and Institute synths.

Big Boy and Alien Blaster in Fallout 4

RedditorBourbonAndGrillingtook to theFallout 4subreddit to share yet another tactic players may have missed involving a Gunner from Vault 95 called Caroni. Caroni appears in theBest of Threequest, a fan-made Creation Club quest that Bethesda made canon and added to the game for free as part of its “Next-Gen” update. Toward the end of this quest, players must kill Caroni, who has killed his former squad and lures others into the Glowing Sea to ambush them.

After killing Caroni, players would normally be able to loot his body and find bottlecaps, weapons - including the extremely powerful Tesla Cannon - and plenty of fusion cells. Normally, this is where most players would leave his corpse and move on, but BourbonAndGrilling realized thatCaroni’s body would automatically generate 9 fusion cells every 18 secondsand decided to take the corpse along on their adventure.

Fallout 4: 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Most Useless) Weapons, Ranked

There are some crazy weapons in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 4, but not all of them are powerful. In fact, some are downright useless!

Caroni’s Body Spawned Over 62118 Fusion Cells

And Would Continue To Spawn More

There are conditions to when Caroni’s body will generate this loot, as it will only do so when it is in an active game cell and while time is passing, meaning fusion cell regeneration will stop when players are in their Pipboy menu. Therefore,BourbonAndGrilling carried the body across the map to their settlement in Sanctuary and left it to farm over 62118 fusion cellsin the time they were building and doing other activities there.

Caroni’s body eventually respawned armor, bottlecaps, and some other loot. However, BourbonAndGrilling noted that the time it took to produce these items was too long to actually be worth it, especially when fusion cells can also be sold for 2 bottlecaps each.

There have been other methods tofarm a high number of fusion cells, with the most notable one involving leaving the Brotherhood of Steel’s paladin, Danse, to fight off a seemingly endless number of synths at the end of theCall to Armsquest. While this resulted in a pile of synth bodies, looting them all for their fusion cells could be time-consuming, asFallout 4doesn’t have the “quick loot all bodies” feature seen inFallout 76.

Admittedly, carrying a body acrossFallout 4’s Wasteland map does sound just as time-consuming. However, the fact that players can leave the body while in a settlement, undertake other tasks, and then get thousands of fusion cells with one single push of a button makes this new method worth it, especially asthere seems to be no limit on how many Caroni can produce.

Fallout 4

Bethesda’s action RPG Fallout 4 puts players into the vault suit of the Lone Survivor, a pre-war soldier from an alternate future cryogenically frozen inside Vault 111. After their infant son is kidnapped, they venture out into the irradiated wasteland of the Commonwealth to scour the ruins of Boston for any sign of him. In doing so, they encounter various factions and companions and use an array of skills and abilities to navigate the apocalyptic remnants of society.
