Summary
No More Room In Hell 2is a terrifying, 8-player co-op action horrorPC gamethat forces players to wade through zombie-filled zones to ally with their comrades. It blends the zombie-killing bloodbath of something likeLeft 4 Dead 2with survival horror aspects, delivering an entirely unique experience. With the volume of enemies and the threat of permadeath looming over the player’s shoulder, this intense action horror title is one to look out for.
It is a sequel to aHalf-Life 2mod that was released back in 2011, butNo More Room In Hell 2has received a massive facelift. With Torn Banner Studios behind the title’s development, the game will be far bigger and, hopefully, significantly better than its modded predecessor. Torn Banner has experience with first person, multiplayer titles, stacked to the brim with gore, since it worked on bothChivalrygames and looks to deliver an equally unique title.

No More Room In Hell 2’s Gameplay Details
What Makes The Game Unique
At first glance, the game appears very similar to something likeLeft 4 Dead 2orVermintide 2with its gory action, but it differs with how it starts. There are eight players spread across a large map, and each starts with nothing but a flashlight. The objective is to gather weapons and meet up with other players to prepare for the final fight at the power plant, right in the heart of the map. The zombie horde will ramp up in size as the game progresses.
Because of this layout, each game is different since there is no set spawn point. No More Room In Hell 2essentially completes the typical transition from survival horror to actionseen in manyResident Evilgamesbut in a faster fashion. It offers both melee and ranged weapon options, character progression, and permadeath, making each run intense. Outside of combat, there will be some puzzle-like objectives to do on the map, and with the planned, vast enemy variety, there will be plenty of replay value.

As it is a co-op game where players have to look for each other on a large map,No More Room In Hell 2will have a communication system for grouping up and proximity VOIP, as seen inPhasmaphobiaandLethal Company. While taking on zombies together, there is also a dismemberment system, which is a nice, gory touch to the game’s visuals. Although not specified, there will be unique"enemy encounter"moments, which sound like mini-bosses that can pop up during a run.
I Want More Games Like Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, Not Star Wars Outlaws
These could both be fun tie-in games, but the upcoming Indiana Jones adventure is operating in a mode I definitely want to see more of.
Differences From The Source Mod
How Has No More Room In Hell Evolved
TheNo More Room In Hellseries began as a mod forHalf-Life 2,using the famous Source engine. It was free-to-play, whereas the sequel won’t be, as it is a standalone game built from the ground up. According to the game’s website,No More Room In Hell 2will offerUnreal Engine 5 visuals, so it is safe to assume that the team has transitioned to the current-gen engine. The graphical fidelity of the sequel will be far beyond that of the predecessor.
Half-Life: Incursionis another horde modcreated for the VRHalf-Life: Alyx.
The original team behind the first game had been bought by Torn Banner Studios. The extra muscle behind the project will allowNo More Room In Hell 2to be bigger than its predecessorfrom both a gameplay perspective (with a larger map) and a commercial standpoint. Both are eight-player co-op, and the core identity of the two games remains the same, but the sequel aims to be bigger and better than ever before while evolving from the original’s status as a mod.
No More Room In Hellisn’t the only game that began as a mod. The most famous example isDOTA 2, whose predecessor began as a mod forWarcraft 3.

This isn’t the first time Torn Banner has worked on evolving a full game from aHalf-Life 2mod. It made theAge of Chivalrymod that later became theChivalry seriesplayers know today. If that evolution is anything to go by,No More Room In Hell 2will benefit from additional polish, better multiplayer infrastructure, and a greater identity as its own game. This doesn’t meanNo More Room In Hell 1will disappear, as the website states that there are no plans to take it down, but it is important to highlight that no more additional work will be done with it.
No More Room In Hell 2is a creative, unique, and exciting horror title that blends together aspects from other similar games into one intense package. The use of permadeath, eight-player co-op, and a transition from survival horror to action make it something that players won’t get anywhere else except the original Source mod. If players can’t wait for the early access release on Halloween 2024, check out the free mod.
