Superman will be the first film released in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe, and the Man of Steel reboot boasts an impressive cast.

How David Corenswet’s Superman Can Go Back To The Hero’s Roots

The Superman Reboot Will Be Different From The DCEU

The DC Extended Universe featuredHenry Cavill as Superman, and by the end of his first movie, which was also the first entry in the now-ended shared universe,Man of Steelsaw its main hero snap General Zod’s neck. That act would be the first of many controversies in the DCEU and related to Cavill’s Superman in general. By the end of his tenure in the role, Cavill’s Man of Steel spent more time shrouded in darkness than being the beacon of hope the hero was meant to be.

DCU creative chief James Gunn has revealed that the DCU will be more in line with the comics than the DCEU. One of the most visible aspects of that inSupermanis the importance of The Daily Planet. Several players inSuperman’s cast are set to play the core roster of characters that work with Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen at the newspaper. As the set photos show, The Daily Planet will be up-to-date on Superman’s feats.

Adding to that, the newspaper’s shot of Superman stopping a train is likely a direct connection to the character’s early motto, “Faster than a speeding bullet!More powerful than a locomotive!Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.” The connection to the comics does not stop there, as the framing of Corenswet’s Superman is reminiscent of a moment from DC Comics' “Superman for All Seasons,” which is one ofGunn’s inspirations for the Superman movie. With Corenswet looking great in the suit and the connection to the comics,Supermanis shaping up to be an exciting event.
