The prospect of a full series based onDungeons & Dragonsmeant that the more obscure corners of the franchise could have been explored properly in live-action, as a full TV series would offer more time in the world than a single feature film. Furthermore, ordering this show ahead of the release ofDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesshowed immense confidence in the film, as the studio seemed to be preparing for the film to be a major success.
However,Paramount+ has stopped development on the live-actionDungeons & DragonsTV show, meaning that the exciting series will no longer be happening. This is sad enough in its own right, as it means that theDungeons & Dragonsseries that I was so excited for will be lost to time, with the opportunity to explore all kinds ofDungeons & Dragonsstories now being gone. However,news of the show’s cancelation also casts doubts on the possibility ofDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 2, which may be the most heartbreaking part about the announcement.
If Paramount+ isn’t confident enough in the franchise to continue with an already-announcedDungeons & Dragonsspinoff TV show, then it is even less likely that Paramount+would invest in a sequel to a movie that has already proven to be unsuccessful. It would be strange to cancel oneDungeons & Dragonsproject just to announce another, with it seeming more likely that Paramount is planning on abandoning this take on theDungeons & Dragonsfranchise entirely.

On top of that,Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieveswas actually reviewed really well, something that can oftentimes be rare for major blockbusters. Despite it being a big-budget action and comedy film that has wide appeal, the movie was praised for its creativity and heart, something that is missing from many blockbusters. A sequel toDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievescould pull off this trick again, making me and other fans happy once more.
