Mortal Kombat 2 trailer finally reveals first look at Noob Saibot
It’s official: Noob Saibot is inMortal Kombat 2, and the first trailer teases a brutal, epic battle between the character and his old friend-turned-foe, Scorpion.
2021’sMortal Kombatwasn’t perfect. Its editing was janky, some of the CGI was a bit rough, Cole Young (Lewis Tan) wasn’t an interesting protagonist, and worst of all, it didn’t even feature the titular contest.
Lessons have been learned for the sequel – to the point that Ed Boon, the co-creator of the games who distanced himself last time, has been heavily promoting the film.
This time, an expanded roster of fighters will duke it out in an actual Mortal Kombat tournament. So, expect fatalities, brutalities, anda lotof blood (plus a few quips, thanks to Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage).
Mortal Kombat 2 trailer has Noob Saibot (and plenty of blood)
The first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 confirms something that will relieve fans: Cole is no longer the main character. Instead, the sequel will focus on Johnny Cage after he’s recruited by Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee).
Also, Hiroyuki Sanada is back as Scorpion, and it would appear he’s still stuck in the Netherrealm, and he’s going to have a rematch against Bi-Han, aka Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) – only this time, he’ll be Noob Saibot (he can be seen at the 1:58 mark).

For anyone unfamiliar with MK lore, Bi-Han/Sub-Zero is killed by Scorpion as revenge for his earlier death. Similarly to Scorpion, he goes to the fiery world of the Netherrealm – only this time, he’s resurrected by Quan Chi (played by Damon Herriman in the sequel) and becomes Noob Saibot.

In an earlier conversation withUNILAD, Taslim was clearly keen on the Noob arc. “I want to see that phantom breaking someone from inside, bro,” he said.
“I hope the [first] movie becomes something that could give a push to Warner Bros. and New Line to continue the journey, to expand the universe, and to see the phantom breaking someone from the inside [laughs]. Fingers crossed… let’s just hope.”
Well, it looks like he’s in luck. That said, in the trailer, Scorpion slices his phantom in half – so don’t expect it to be an easy fight.
