Freaky Friday 2 Has All The Ingredients To Be A Worthy Sequel

The Cast, Synopsis, And Release Plan Are All Promising

Curtis and Lohan’s enthusiasm to make a sequel was the first positive sign ofFreaky Friday 2becoming a reality. A sequel would only work with their return, and with them still holding prominent roles, which is confirmed by the synopsis. At the same time, focusing on the multigenerational aspect of the story and introducing Anna’s daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughterwill help move the story forward, ensuring the sequel isn’t just about Tess and Anna again.

While Curtis and Lohan returning was most important in creating a sequel, it is alsopromising that so many other members of the original cast are also returning. Harmon, Murray, Chao and the other veteran cast members are all part of whyFreaky Fridayremains a belovedcomedy of the early 2000s. Equally exciting is the addition of new cast members, especially Jacinto, who has demonstrated his considerable comedic talent in NBC’s critically acclaimed seriesThe Good Place, and is currently demonstrating a balance between sinister and humorous energy in Disney+‘sStar Wars: The Acolyte.

Confirmation ofFreaky Friday 2being a theatrical release is also a good sign. With so many high-profile actors returning or making theirFreaky Fridaydebut in what sounds like a compelling expansion of the 2003 film,it deserves to be seen on the big screen and to be made to feel like an event. Quietlyreleasing on Disney+would be a disservice to the excitement that already surroundsFreaky Friday 2, and that will only continue to build as the 2025 release date draws closer.
