Moses Sumney —Worth It (Live at Moog Sound Lab)
A one-man symphony of analog synths, layered and auto-tuned vocals, and beatbox rhythms appears on this live version of Moses Sumney’sWorth It. This single is particularly interesting because, despite the use of a loop pedal, Sumney makes his transitions and slow-building musical ideas flow seamlessly. It’s a refreshing turn from many of the loopers who abound on YouTube, who often sound more like talent show contestants than artists.

Vulfpeck —Dean Town
Acclaimed funk outfit Vulfpeck released a cool in-studio video for their latest singleDean Townthis week, showcasing a live take during which drummer Theo Katzman rocks out with chopsticks and a lampshade. The video serves an important purpose here — the song is such a cleanly-recorded groover, it would be hard to imagine them laying it down live if we didn’t have video evidence.
Robert Ellis —California
Southern rocker Robert Ellis’ singleCaliforniafinds itself boosted by the classic tones of the Fender Rhodes on his singleCalifornia. This particular story of heartbreak feels well suited to transitional periods of inclement weather, when your mind wanders with the slow descent of falling leaves.
Pond —Sweep Me off My Feet
Aussie rockers Pond worked with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker forSweep Me off My Feet, a groovy jam that also serves as the first single off the band’s still-untitled 2017 record. There’s a distinctly Bowie vibe to this one, with analog synths and rhythmic choruses that practically shimmer in the light.
