After contracting COVID-19,Tammy’s doctors put her on oxygen, and she continued to need it even after she recovered.

In addition to changing her life and appearance, losing weight also changed Tammy’s relationship with her family. The Slatons are very close, and Tammy and her four siblings spend all their time together. At Tammy’s former size,she needed a lot of care, and the responsibility fell on her family, especially Amy. This created a lot of resentment and tension, so her weight loss improved the family dynamics.
Tammy isn’t the only Slaton who lost significant weight, as Amy also lost 125 pounds. Their brother, Chris Combs, had bariatric surgery during1000-lb Sistersseason 3 and lost 150 pounds.
